Hepatitis C was first discovered back in 1970s and was officially confirmed by medical experts in 1981. It is estimated that nearly 300 million people around the globe have HCV infection. Medical surveys have revealed that on average more than 36,000 American citizens annually get infected with Hepatitis C virus. The fact that Hepatitis C can only infect humans has made it hard for experts to conduct researches on Hepatitis C.

What do I mean by saying it's a viral disease? Well, there are many scientific publications on whether or not viruses are a living organism. When they are outside of the body, and not active, they have a crystal form, and do not resemble anything living. But they do have a DNA, which they inject into the cells they attack, making the cell produce more viruses with the same DNA. Let's not bore you with the scientific reasons - in short, currently we have no way of directly treating viral diseases.

Troglitazone is in the thiazolidinedione family of diabetes medications. The thiazolidinedione family includes pioglitazone and rosiglitazone. Pioglitazone is marketed as Actos by Takeda Pharmaceuticals; Rosiglitazone is marketed as Avandia by GlaxoSmithKline. Both of these medications are currently on the market.

Other causes are irritation to the liver from alcohol, bacterial infections, drugs, and cancer. At least 75% of people infected with hepatitis C develop chronic hepatitis C which can be progressive and fatal. Once you have it, you will need to find ways to keep it under control. This disease never completely goes away. However, my clients have had very good luck with alternative medicine treatments for hepatitis C, but they work at it and stick with a good program.

The main problem with interferon-based treatments is that they are inappropriate for patients with chronic forms of hepatitis C. In addition, long-term treatments with interferon can produce severe side-effects and thus they aren't usually administered for more than 6 months. For patients with chronic hepatitis C and patients who fail to respond to treatments with interferon, combination treatments are generally the best option available.

To protect themselves from damage, liver cells "turn off" their receptors for insulin. Called insulin resistance, this phenomenon keeps sugar out of the cell. If the cell does not receive sugar, it does not burn sugar, and there are fewer free radicals to be neutralized. The liver cell, however, continues to respond to insulin as a transporter of fat.

Hepatitis C - is one of the viruses that causes hepatitis, or inflammation of the liver. It is spread predominantly by contact with infected blood and much less from other body fluids. Risk factors for having Hepatitis C include those who have used shared needles, and those that have received a blood transfusion prior to 1991, and those who have been tattooed.
